CIDEMAR Foundation is composed by a multidisciplinary team commited in bringing everyone closer to our aquatic environments and its biodiversity. 

Through our educational work, we aspire to promote a sense of environmental coexistence, integral and shared by everyone, fostering a securing a shared  and shared by everyone, fostering a better future for the coming generations.

Our vision

We believe that education and inclusion are the best ways to care and proyect our shared natural heritage. Arming the citizens of today and future generations with knowledge is crucial for the safekeeping of our home and its resources. 
Our lifeforce is the commitement of the many which has propelled us to achieve our goals.

Lawyer | Legal DIrector

Supports the application of projects, search of funding, drafting and interpretation of legal documents. In addition, he supports voluntary and contentious proceedings.

María José Ochoa Muñoz

María José Ochoa Muñoz

MSc. y Marine Biologist | Founder and Executive Director

In charge of the dynamic of the Foundation and the development of educational resources. She researches the ecology of plankton and leads Octopus Training Office.

Jorge Contreras Herrera

Msc. y Marine Biologist | Founder and Associate Professional Officer

Develops research studies related to the early growth stages of fish. He has acted as a researcher in several universities and currently works in IFOP Valparaíso.

Tamara Santander Valdivieso

Tamara Santander Valdivieso

Marine Biologist | Associate Professional Officer

Produces educational content and activities with an inclusive approach and develops other projects and services. Currently working in PAR Explora CONICYT Valparaíso in charge of interactive and travelling educational exhibits.

In charge of the Alianza Playera de Chile Program (APCL), which aims to unify costal cleaning efforts supported with educational activities that contribute to awareness about or waste culture. In addition she supports the development and spreading of environmental knowledge.

Graduate in History and Political Sciences and Photographer | Associate Professional Officer

Focused in the creative areas, web design, photography and media of the Foundation. With four years of experience in communications and web content in PAR Explora de CONICYT Valparaíso.

Marine Biologist | Associate Professional Officer

Actively participates in the divulgation efforts contributing with information and scientific literature. Currently working as a researcher, with a strong commitment in approaching science to the community.

In charge of developing the theoretical content of the Microcosmos Oceánico Program. Thesis student of the University of Valparaíso, researching the taxonomy of the Amphipoda.

Co-director of the Litoral Chileno Program, focused in gathering and producing content for environmental education. Currently a thesis student in the Aquatic Biotechnology and Reproductive Genomics Laboratory of the University of Valparaíso.

Supports the communications area regarding institutional visibility and strengthening though the search of funding and alliances. Furthermore, she helps in community outreach and social media presence.

Supports the search of funding and in the development of ecotourism projects aiming to raise awareness drawing the community closer to the ocean though science and scuba diving. Currently a thesis student in the Andrés Bello University in Viña Del Mar.
